I am using Google Tag Manager to track events.

After clicking a "register" button and I get redirected to a page with path "/activate".

I want to trigger an event only when I click register and get redirected to /activate page Not when the /activate page is loaded, for example on a reload.

How can I achieve this in google tag manager.

I have successfully been able to get the register_clicked : true event sent to Data Layer after clicking the register button. I have an page_view event that is triggered on condition if page path is /activate and register_clicked event is registered as true. But the page_view is not executed when tested in preview mode in GTM.

What could I be doing wrong? What steps should I take?
