I've recently arranged a new VM server with our cloud data center for use with our SQL Server database, which will replace our current server. This means migrating from SQL Server 2017 to SQL Server 2022 and Visual Studio 2017 to Visual Studio 2022.

Visual Studio Pro 2022 was installed and upon trying to open my large reporting services project (previously used in VS 2017), I received an error stating that the project was incompatible. Some research suggested that all that was required was to install the Microsoft Reporting Services Projects extension. I tried this and it made no difference, same error.

I already had Visual Studio Pro 2022 installed on my laptop for use with web applications, so thought I'd try it on there. Initially, I got the same error, but after installing the extension the project successfully opened without issue on my laptop. Therefore, I suspect the issue must be with the new VM.

I had all of the SQL / VS / SSRS configuration specified in the statement of works for our data center to configure, but nonetheless, they have given up and have dropped the problem in my lap. I've tried to uninstall / reinstall and I'm now stuck at this point with this issue holding up a major upgrade project. Does anyone have any suggestions here? Thanks.
