I downloaded the Wolfram Engine and have verified that it works by running it in the terminal.

I also downloaded a VSC extension for the Wolfram Langauge:

The readme file says that notebooks are created using the .vsnb extension. So, I tried making a new file in VSC with the .vsnb extension but it doesn't seem to recognize that I am writing WL. For instance, there is no 'run' button in the upper right corner, and the tab icon doesn't turn into the WL symbol.

However, this method works just fine for creating python scripts.
