Can .NET MAUI be used to build software compatible to run on embedded Linux on ARM target? If not supported now, is there a plan to support it in the near future? We were looking at a cross-platform UI framework based on C# language which can support building software to run on Windows Desktop, iOS, Android, macOS & embedded Linux on arm.

Saw that .NET MAUI is a supported for all these platforms except Linux. But saw that though Linux is not explicitly mentioned as a supported platform, still there are ways to get it working on Linux, but not sure where its documented..

  • 1 No Linux support, like Avalonia. And MAUI is sufficiently large. – Joop Eggen Commented Feb 24 at 14:45
  • @Joop Eggen — Could you post a formal answer? There are too many unanswered questions even those correctly answered in comments. – Sergey A Kryukov Commented Feb 24 at 16:17

There is no Linux support, Unlike Avalonia for instance. The product was is a revamp of a wild growth. It limited itself at many spots, also to not do Linux on Mono, maybe because of Linux being quite divers. .NET MAUI is more than a library, like converting one set of scalable vector graphics to platform dependently sized icons. And platform libraries.

Hence - though Linux seems quite near -, I do not see any capacity (even willing) at the side of MAUI or any third party taking the effort of jumping in.

That may change some day, But certainly alternatives (Avalonia? - don't know) is less risky.

It should be noted that I have no experience .NET MAUI neither its predecessorm, neither Avalonia. I would say it is not feasible. Judicial advice would not be bad too.
