This seems obvious but I have hunted for the answer for some time

if I use a hyperlink with address "c:\myspreadsheet.xls" that works fine, it goes to the named spreadsheet, opening it if necessary.

if I use a hyperlink with a sub-address of "Sheet1!A1" that also works fine going to that tab and cell in the currently open spreadsheet

But I don't seem to be able to use both in the same hyperlink to go to cell A1 in Tab Sheet1 in spreadsheet myspreadsheet.xls.

Am I just making a stupid mistake?
