My company is working (like everyone else) on transitioning everything over to fabric. I am working on building a new semantic model, with new/unfamiliar data, and am stuck on how I can use both fabric and PBI desktop for the best results.
From my existing Lakehouse on fabric, I clicked "Create New Semantic Model" and chose the data that I want included in my model. It's a significant number of tables so I figured the UI of PBI desktop would be easier to work in, plus I'm needing to use Power Querey for a lot of the steps. However when I open PBI desktop and connect to my model, I don't have the ability to view my tables in Power Querey, because I guess I'm really just making a composite model at that point.
Is it not possible to create a kind of base model in fabric and then open it in PBI desktop to do all of the transforms, measure creatation, parameter setting etc.? I fear I am missing something obvious, but I haven't been able to find a resource that walks me through this type of issue. If what I am hoping to do is not possible, how to you do Power Querey type transforms in fabric?
Editing to add, I did try to connect to the LakeHouse from PBI desktop directly, and was unable to. Maybe that is the way to go about this and I am just having some sort of access issue?
